Working Together Towards IndependenceINDEPENDENT LIVING SOLUTIONS THAT FIT
Each individual is unique. Discovering the right solution that fits the needs of each person with cognitive impairments starts with a careful assessment.
Whether you are seeking a solution for yourself, for a loved one, for someone in your professional care, or for your service agency, Living Without Limits can help.
QUALITY OF LIFE IS INTERCONNECTED
INDEPENDENT LIVING IS QUALITY OF LIFE
How does Living Without Limits assist people living with cognitive issues? We begin by conducting a holistic-view assessment of needs and skills. From this assessment, options for new tools and supports are developed.
The right assistive technologies are adapted to meet the needs of each unique individual.
The right plan is created to assure that the assistive technologies are used effectively and the independent living goals are achieved.
Together, we build confidence, competence, and comfort through training. This is a transition period for individuals facing barriers to independent living, their family members and their caregivers.
We then help put in place the right supports, monitoring, and alert systems for safe, healthier independent living.
Exciting new technologies are giving people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) more confidence in their ability to live alone, and it’s helping many families avoid the decision to move a loved one to a nursing or congregant care facility.
Sensors, voice activation, GPS, Bluetooth, cellular connectivity via mobile phones, smartphone monitoring apps, transportation apps, and sophisticated computers are making staying at home or moving into one’s own home a viable option for an increasing number of people.
New devices allow for medication dose tracking, Alzheimer’s wandering monitoring, inactivity, fall detection, and real-time health information. With mobile push-button personal emergency response systems, our Living Without Limits remote supports options can provide real-time alerts to family members or other caregivers.

Working with
Family Members, Case Workers, And Agencies
We work directly with family members charged with caring for individuals with disabilities or older adults to support independent living.
Oftentimes, we work with Case Workers and other health professionals to navigate the process of applying for and receiving vouchers or other state and federal funding.
Our team has a deep well of experience in working through complications to reach successful outcomes.
James’ Story
James, in his mid sixties, had lived most of his adult life in a group home. In fact, his world was much smaller. He rarely came out of his bedroom. Through its approach to assessments and training, the Living Without Limits team worked with James to identify his technology solution to independent living.
Today, James lives in his own apartment. He is now venturing well beyond his bedroom. James takes walks around his neighborhood. The exercise helps address his health issues and obesity.
Sensors in the soles of his shoes allow caregivers to track his journey and know when he arrives home safely! And now, when shopping he offers help to others who could use a hand with their groceries. James is now connected to his community in new and wonderful ways.
