Groove Catcher Demonstration: A Virtual Reality-Based Movement Therapy App

We’re excited to introduce you to Groove Catcher Tx, a platform for virtual reality-assisted adjunctive therapy interventions for neurodiverse clients. Our VR therapies integrate dance, music, and visuals through innovative, play-based experiences. Clients want therapies that keep them engaged and connected while they do targeted, highly repetitive interventions — so they enjoy their therapy journey and come back for more sessions. The breakthrough Vizmoo VR therapy tools help clients who have been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, TBI, and anyone who struggles with sensory integration, neurodevelopmental, behavioral, or dysregulation disorders.

Literacy Supports – Built-In Accessibility, Handheld Devices, and Wearables

Whether one has a reading disability, visual impairment, or a cognitive disability, there are a range of technology solutions available to help one read independently – be it novels, mail, websites, menus, signs, and so much more. Literacy supports are available in a range of solutions, including built-in accessibility features on one’s phone, tablet or computer, handheld and desktop solutions, and wearable technologies. This is an area where new and exciting options are being developed all the time – come learn about the latest options and bring along your favorites to share as well.

What Else Needs to Change? Reviewing Job Descriptions and Staff Expectations

As we change course on how we support people with disabilities in their increasingly independent lives with technology, we need to review job descriptions, staff expectations, and how we set our staff up for success with new skills and approaches to supporting those living in independent settings. Join us to review what has worked and areas that provided challenges. Bring your questions and examples of how you have begun to make changes in this area.

Assistive Technology Academy

Hone your professional skillset to deliver effective assistive technology services! This introductory course is a hybrid training program, developed by Inclusive Technology Solutions, LLC, designed to provide participants with foundational knowledge in the areas of Assistive Technology. This assistive technology training curriculum will be relevant for all disability age groups, with a focus on providing effective assistive technology solutions for adults with disabilities.

Mike is a RESNA Certified Assistive Technology Professional and the Director of the Richard West Assistive Technology Advocacy Center, NJ’s AT Act program. Mike is a nationally and internationally recognized presenter providing practical training to professionals interested in assistive and inclusive technology and serves on the CAST Center on Inclusive Technology and Education Systems (CITES) Advisory Board. Hands On, Aprons On: Cooking Without Limits

Join us for an interactive, hands-on assistive technology event designed to showcase cooking safety and navigation for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This seminar is geared towards case managers, assessors, and primary caregivers to understand the assistive technology that could overcome the barriers to independence. 

Participants will be assigned a “disability” and a cooking station with various assistive technologies, tools, and instructions to discover solutions that make cooking accessible for all. 

Come cook, learn, and experience how assistive technology can open the door to independence – one recipe at a time!
