How can assistive technology help improve your quality of life?
This is Alexis. Alexis was born with a hole in her heart, and at 11 months of age she had to have open heart surgery. Alexis was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and eventually an intellectual disability. When she was younger, Alexis always told her mom that she wanted to live on her own and have her own apartment. Alexis got her assessment done, and the assistive technology team identified different devices that she could benefit from. With the assistive technology and the support, Alexis has been able to fulfill her lifelong dream of living on her own.
